Tanner got here Tuesday night after a twelve hour drive...it has been SO nice having him here. There's something about him that just fixes everything. He noticed me getting bluesy that night, so he made the executive decision that I was to get out of the hospital for a day, and just leave Brandt in the care of all the nurses (who were more than happy to get me out, having seen me there as much as they had) while we went out to do something fun!

It's tiring, being this cute. |

Hasn't lost his second chin or his stylin' IV hat! |
So we slept in until eight the next morning, found a really yummy breakfast joint (if you're ever in the University district of Seattle, look up the Morsel. You won't regret it!), and spent the day downtown at Pikes Market. Getting out and about in the fresh air did my head a world of good. I love browsing through little shops like that, and Tanner even humored me with a trip through Sur le Table, which is really a dangerous place to let me into. Overpriced kitchenware? Let me at it! While we browsed, I picked up a cute scarf (because this is obviously the season for those, right?) and a neat, handmade, leather-bound notebook with cotton paper. Mostly, I just like the smell of it, but I'm always down for another something to write in. I've always liked keeping a journal...especially these days...so I'm sure it'll get used well. A ride on the famous Ferris wheel and a trip to PF Changs wrapped up our time there.
We went back to the hotel and took a nap (that was a LOT of walking!), then finished off the day with a movie at a quaint little bistro/theater. They've got surprisingly good pizza for a movie theater; as good as or better than many restaurants I've tried. I may have to go back again soon!

I'm not really a fan of breakfast food, but WOW that was good! |

FaceTiming with toddlers can
really make a person dizzy! |
This morning, we got back to the hospital and spent a few hours with Brandt before I had a lunch date with a friend. Around two, I drove Tanner to the lightrail station to head back to the airport. I'm sorry to see him go, but I suppose it had to happen. There are only so many days off allowed per year!
Brandt has done swimmingly in our absence. As predicted, the nurses all think he's just about the cutest thing that has ever lived and breathed in their department, so even when he did let loose the occasional squawk, they didn't mind! Apparently, he was a content, smiley little boy the whole time, though.

Ferris wheel selfie! |
Before we left, he had been on oxygen because his sats stayed low after he came off anesthesia, but he picked back up while we were gone, and they were able to remove the dreaded canula and the face stickers that go with it. Who knows how long it'll last, but that was much cause for celebration. Babies and canulas don't mix well! Especially when the baby in question is learning how to grab things.
So everything is going well, and we're still on track for surgery Tuesday morning!

The shoreline of Seattle, as seen from the Ferris wheel. It really is a cool looking city from a distance! |
